Route: 144 between Snow Shoe and Renovo in Clinton and Centre Counties
Stretching 27 miles between Snow Shoe and Renovo, this byway runs along the top of the Allegheny Ridge with unforgettable views of the Sproul State Forest. You’ll see more deer, bear, and elk than you’d ever imagined. In fact, the views have remained unchanged for more than a hundred years.
Bring your camera to the Two Run Rock Vista and the Fish Dam Run Scenic View. Hike the Chuck Keiper Trail, or check out the wetlands at the Cranberry Swamp Natural Area.
Closer to Snow Show, you’ll come upon Old St.Severins Church. This National Registered Landmark, built in 1851 by Benedictines from Latrobe, is constructed of hand-hewn logs and was the pioneer Roman Catholic Church in north-central Pennsylvania.
Located about 10 miles south of Renovo on S.R. 144 on the High Plateau Scenic Byway, the Fish Dam Run Vista offers an exceptional view over the Russell Letterman Wild Area. The view is especially beautiful during the fall foliage.
