November Events and Festivals in Pennsylvania

As the season of fright begins to fade and a season of thanks is on the horizon, we have a cornucopia of events for Happy Travelers to pursue their happiness. From twinkling lights to crafty beer, November provides much for us to be grateful for (including a side of bacon).

1. Winter Light Spectacular

Stroll through the grounds of the Lehigh Valley Zoo during the Winter Light Spectacular where it will be decked in full holiday splendor. Stop and roast marshmallows over a fire pit, and be sure to say hello to Santa's reindeer!

2. Hersheypark Christmas Candylane

Get into the holiday spirit by experiencing Christmas in Hershey. Start off the evening by exploring Christmas Candylane, where guests can enjoy all the wonders of the holiday at Hersheypark. Visit with Santa and his reindeer, sing along to some holiday tunes and enjoy some hot roasted nuts while strolling through the amusement park. For those who want to stay warm in the car, check out the Hershey Sweet Lights display. This two-mile wooded driving path provides a twinkling journey where visitors can view more than 600 animated displays.

3. Veterans Day Commemoration

The Valley Forge National Historic Park will commemorate the Continental Army’s legacy and honor all of America’s military, past and present, with special events throughout the day. A ceremony at the National Memorial Arch will honor our nation’s heroes with local and national military organizations. Visitors can also join ranger-led walking tours or the Valley Forge Trolley Tours.

4. Wine Just Off The Vine

Go behind the barrels, speak with winemakers and sample new vintages during the ninth annual Wine Just Off The Vine signature event on the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail. Celebrate the fruits of the fall harvest with a refreshing nouveau wine – a young wine that is truly just off the vine – and more fresh-pressed wines.

When: Nov. 11-12 and 18-19

Where: The Mason-Dixon Wine Trail

Cost: $20 ticket includes tastings at all 16 wineries both weekends. Designated drivers receive free admission.

5. 2nd Saturday “Christmas on Main Street”

Saint Nick arrives in a horse-drawn carriage to open the Christmas season in an old fashioned way at the 2nd Saturday “Christmas on Main Street." Great holiday shopping, breakfast and pictures with Santa, strolling carolers, musicians, carriage rides on Main St. and much more!

6. 11th Annual Brew-Fest: Red, White & Brew

Honoring the courage and service of our local veterans with an All-American selection of more than two dozen craft beers and an all-you-can-eat buffet at the 11th Annual Brew-Fest: Red, White & Brew. Demonstrate your patriotism in the photo booth and build gourmet s’mores by the bonfire while competing for prizes! This event is from 7-11 p.m.

7. Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem

8. Tipsy Turkey Wine Trail

The Tipsy Turkey Wine Trail is a self-guided, scavenger hunt wine trail between three destinations. At each destination you will have to search for all of the tipsy turkeys and complete a task! If you complete all of the tasks and find all of the turkeys, you will win a prize! Enjoy a scavenger hunt and a glass of wine at each location.

When: Nov. 18

9. Overly’s Country Christmas

Make a new holiday memory at Overly’s Country Christmas! Explore the Christmas Village filled with an array of old-fashioned traditions and treats, sing carols ‘round the bonfire, revel in the model train display, have your picture taken with Santa, take a horse-drawn wagon or sleigh ride to shop for gifts in the General Store.

10. Great Brews Beer Festival

The 27th Annual Great Brews Beer Festival is the event of the season with beer samplings, live musical entertainment, games, giveaways, and food and craft vendors! There will be speakers from two local breweries: Pocono Brewery Company and Shawnee Brewing Company.

When: Nov. 18-19

11. Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade

The oldest Thanksgiving parade in America, the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade is a true Philadelphia tradition. The city streets make way for massive floats and giant balloons, plus local performers from choirs, dance groups, marching bands and more spanning 1.4 miles from center city to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Santa himself arrives in grand fashion, ushering Philadelphia into the holiday season. Once again, the annual Thanksgiving Day parade promises another visual and celebratory feast.

12. Bethlehem by Night Bus Tours

Sit back and experience the Christmas City by bus. The tour includes a visit to the famous star atop South Mountain, a look at early and current local holiday traditions, and access to historic highlights in North and South Bethlehem.

13. Santa’s Arrival and Diamond Lighting at Ligonier

Gather around Ligonier’s charming Diamond and cheer as Santa Claus comes to town! A full parade including the local marching band will escort Santa’s horse-drawn sleigh to town where he will flip the switch and light up this charming town. Afterwards, children can meet Santa and share their Christmas wish list.

14. Christmas at Glencairn

Celebrate Christmas in a 20th-century castle. This 45-minute guided tour reveals how Christmas was celebrated at Glencairn when it was the private home of the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family from the 1940s to 1970s. Explore works of art depicting World Nativity scenes from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.  

When: Nov. 24-Jan. 7

Where: Bryn Athyn

Cost: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+), half-price for members and children three and under

15. Festival of Trees

The highly popular festival has expanded and will be held at the Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts this year!  Local entertainers, crafters, food vendors, and dozens of beautifully decorated Christmas trees is the perfect way to kick up your holiday spirit!
